Rev Mr Brecher started Concordia as a mission station in 1852, and here the Namaqua Copper Company exploited copper deposits until 1933 when it became the Okipe Copper Company. Concordia was used as Boer Commando Headquarters during the April 1902 when Okiep was under siege. Visitors can still see old Cornish mine houses and the granary which served as a hospital to the Boer Commandos. (Updated Apr-12).
