The small but pretty seaside town is located on the eastern side of the Cape Peninsula on the shores of False Bay. Simon's Town has been a naval base for over two centuries, first for the Royal Navy and now for the South African Navy. The town is boxed in between the shoreline and the hilly land rising from the water's edge. The town is full of history and beautiful old buildings. Jubilee Square is the social hub of the town with shops, pubs, market stalls and coffee shops. It's also home to the bronze statue of 'Able Seaman Just Nuisance' the first and only dog to be enlisted in the Royal Navy. Popular beaches in town include Long Beach, Seaforth, one of the best swimming beaches in the area, and the famous Boulders Beach where you will find a breeding colony of African penguins.
