The Gamsberg is Namibia's fourth highest mountains at a height of 2347m. It is 120km south west of Windhoek and characterized by its conspicuous cap of weather-resistant quartzite sandstone and a large table-topped mountain that rises some 500 m above the surrounding Khomas Hochland. The plateau is an ideal location from which to study the stars of the southern hemisphere because of its unusually clear night sky. Scenery is spectacular when travelling in a circular route in the Gamsberg surroundings, especially along the Gamsberg, Spreetshoogte and Remhoogte passes. Many of the farms are involved in tourism can be visited to have a meal, spend a night or two. At the foot of the Gamsberg is the Corona Guest Farm regarded as Namibia's most beautiful guest farms. The world-famous ReitSafari horse trail through the Namib to the coast, its starting point is at Farm Hilton. Gamsberg Trails is an excellent way to explore the Gamsberg, there is guided day excursions from Windhoek to the top of the plateau.
