Six sites each with its own a-frame, bush toilet (ie. a longdrop), cold shower in a shower enclosure, wash basin and large shaded area. They usually have water - but not always - if not available you can fetch from Twee Rivieren about 12 km away.
Strictly 4x4 owners only.
Site fees are payable to the Botswana Wildlife Service. Very basic facilities.
Since May 2011 DWNP changed the ruling and now allows payment of entry fees at the gates again. When you pay you are issued with a park entry permit which serves as your official receipt. For more information on payment contact the DWNP at +267(0)686 1265 or +267(0)397 1405.
Reservations are advisable.

ACCESS:
There is two tracks, one in SA and one in Botswana. If you drive from Twee Rivieren on the SA side, it is a gravel road, but Sanparks still recommend a high clearance vehicle.
If you drive from Two Rivers on the Botswana side (100m to the east) it is a sandy track, mostly accessible by high clearance though some deeper sand patches - 4WD is recommended.
If you are coming through Botswana from Mabua via Mopipi, that is definitely 4WD to get to Rooiputs.
WATER:
You can possibly obtain water from the rangers at the gate. (Apr-13).
CELLPHONE INFO:
There is no cellular data connection at Rooiputs unless you are good with climbing trees! If you set up your phone as a mobile hotspot and manage to raise it high up in a tree, you will get a slow EDGE connection. (Apr-14).
BOOKINGS:
The booking office opens at 07:30am, if you phone then and before 08:00am your call may get answered quicker.
You are not allowed to collect wood in the Kgalagadi National Park. Visitors must bring their own wood and water.
“No water at this camp, bring your own, or obtain from rangers at entrance gate.” - Mietsie Visser, 2013/04/02
“This is the same area as w152504 so is probably one of the six sites there. The same comments apply viz "The site was developed as part of the Transfrontier Park and each site has a large man made structure to provide some essential shade. There is a facility for water to be provided but the pump seems to be tempermental. Long drop loo and self operated shower on each site."” - David Clack, 2009/02/02
