Received reports in Aug-12 that this caravan park is dilapidated. Original info Tracks4Africa had on this POI: Pilgrim's Rest Caravan Park is situated on the banks of the Blyde River with large, shady trees and beautiful and well-kept grass lawns. Is a partnership between the Department of Public Works and Imbali Yezwe Projects but it is family owned and managed which guarantees a warm welcome and homely atmosphere. The campsites are all shaded with braai (barbeque) facilities and hot water ablutions. There is a swimming pool and a shop where you can buy wine, beer, meat, wood. Activities include swimming, hiking, fishing, mountain biking, 4x4 routes, horse riding, canoeing, kloofing, rock climbing, bird watching, rock art, nature drives and activities in surrounding area includes traditional cultural dances available by prior arrangement, educational tours, volleyball court and nearby is the mac-mac falls, 3 rondavels, god's window and more. “We visited this previously charming, caravan park again on 22 August 2012. The sad story of neglect in the town of Pilgrims is even more apparent here. The camp was totally deserted apart from a squatter who had apparently moved into one of the numerous dilapidated buildings. Who, in their right mind, would want to camp there now in any case?.
