What is new on the T4A GPS Maps – Traveller’s Africa 12.05
T4A GPS Maps 12.05 will again be preloaded on a 2Gb micro SD card with standard adapter, ready for Plug & Navigate.
This SD card can be used on most map capable Garmin units and has now been tested with latest Nuvi40 as well.
The SD card also contains installation files for PC and Mac users who want to install the maps on their computers for trip planning or for transferring maps to older Garmin units such as the 276c, 76csx, eTrex, etc.
Apart from the usual map updates and corrections as we receive them from travellers we have added a lot of new roads data for some areas in South Africa.
Western Cape, Northern Cape, Eastern Cape and KZN have received a complete overhaul of secondary public roads. In the past we have only included roads for which we have received GPS recordings, however we have taken a conservative view on available public roads in these provinces and added roads which may have been missing on our maps. Users will enjoy a much more complete coverage of secondary, public roads in these provinces. The same project will be extended to Gauteng province in the near future.
Swaziland has seen high impact data submissions including some hiking trails and a number of secondary gravel roads being added. This map has matured into a very detailed map of Swaziland.
Ethiopia, Djibouti and Somalia has received a lot of new data lately which has been added.
For Botswana several new tracks and camps were added. A lot of corrections are being reported for Botswana which is still a very popular self-drive destination.
The same goes for Namibia. This very popular travel region receives many corrections and updates on a continuous basis which are processed with every release.
Several trips have been undertaken to map out new routes between Zambia and Angola. Border crossings between these two countries were checked and inserted.
In Zimbabwe minor changes were made from data corrections and new submissions.
For the T4A Africa Guide which is included on the SD card as a GPI file, we have again added a huge amount of new content, especially on towns of Botswana and Namibia. This was as a result of our on-going research for our book on Namibia and Botswana.
