The Cape of Good Hope known in Afrikaans as die Kaap van Goeie Hoop, it is on the Atlantic coast of the Cape Peninsula and is rocky headlands. There is misconception that the Cape of Good Hope is the southern tip of Africa, but in fact the most southernmost point is Cape Agulhas. The Cape of Good Hope marks the point where a ship starts to travels more eastward than southward. The Cape of Good Hope has a special significance to sailors for many years and is referred to as 'the Cape'. It is located in the Cape Peninsula National Park and near the well-known tourist attraction Cape Point.
