Simondium is a small town close to Paarl in the Cape Winelands, and was named after Pierre Simond (1651-1713) who was the Huguenot minister at the Cape. The town is surrounded by the Klein-Drakensteinberg to the east, to the north the Paarl Mountain and Nature Reserve, and behind the village, the Simonsberg Mountain.
