Sneeuberg Hut is a mountain hut with literally three walls and a roof, the fourth is a boulder and the floor is made of straws. Sneeuberg is the highest peak in the Cederberg, at 2027m often snows in winter. Driehoek farm is the base from which to hike this trail and hikers can obtain permit and maps from the farm. From Diehoek farm drive to Eikeboom farm where there is a parking area under oak trees. Hiking is rough, fairly steady hike of up to 1300m past ceder trees and snow proteas and past the remains of the old Hoogvertoon farm house which collapsed in the 1900s and been abandoned ever since. The path meanders up to a plateau and from there the hut will be visible. Best hike is during summer when the snow protea blooms. The night is spent at the hut. Permits are obtained at the Driehoek Farm. For more information contact Cape Nature.
