Booking

The Khoisan were the first inhabitants of the region. They used a fountain on the beach for drinking water. The name Strandfontein was derived from this Fontein op die strand ('beach fountain'). Strandfontein is a small sea side village situated at the mouth of the Olifants River about 250 Km North of Cape Town. It is a popular holiday destination with excellent fishing and a wide variety of watersports. It has a beautiful beach stretching for kilometres along the West Coast. There is a playground for children, a safe tidal pool and slipway for rubber boats. Southern Right whales can be spotted when they enter the bay during their calving season in spring. Crayfish and mussels can be gathered from these waters, if you have a license.
