Paternoster (town near Tietiesbaai) is a very popular destination on the West Coast with quaint fisherman cottages dotting the hill and coast line. The Cape Columbine Nature Reserve is situated 3km west of Paternoster, and Tietiesbaai forms part of the reserve. Tietiesbaai is popular amongst nature lovers and campers. Primitive camping facilities forms part of the charm of Tietiesbaai, a place where time seemingly stands still, with two ablution blocks using solar heating, no power points and a few fresh water taps. The rocky coastline of the area is perfect for kayaking and diving for crayfish.
