Also referred to Buffelsbaai in Afrikaans, and sometimes also Buffels Bay in english. Buffalo Bay is a small coastal town often referred to as a village, quiet and undisturbed, unpopulated inside the Goukamma Nature Reserve and Marine Protected Areas. The town is part of the Eden District Municipality, Western Cape province of South Africa. This is a lovely small seaside resort, close to beautiful beaches. The town is surrounded by Ocean, a marine protected area that extends into the sea for 1.8km, one of the highest vegetated dunes in South Africa, an estuary and the landlocked Groenvlei Lake which makes it a great tourism destination. The nearest major town is Knysna, where most facilities are found. More information for the town of Buffalo Bay can be obtained from Cape nature office for the Goukamma Nature Reserve and Marine Protected Areas.
