Ongongo means 'magical' in Herero, situated 6km from Warmquelle. There is a permanent water spring coming out of the mountain, warm enough for swimming all year round.
Luxury campsites are provided with private ablutions, although please take note that there are no electrical points at the campsites. There are lights (12 volt solar powered) though.
A maximum of 8 people and 2 vehicles per campsite is allowed, unless otherwise authorized by management. No loud music allowed, and no music allowed after dark.
We are not selling ice at the campsite but it can be arranged because we have Sesfontein Guesthouse just a few kilometres from the campsite and there is a fridge/freezer at reception and we should be able to make limited amounts of ice.
Campsite Rules: Please respect your neighbours at all times. No loud music allowed at all. No music allowed after dark unless you are the only ones there. Sound carries far in the wild. Please be considerate and keep noise levels reasonable at night as well as in the mornings. Please do not dump all your rubbish with us. There is no official dumpsite close by and we would like to keep the impact on the immediate environment to a minimum. Please take your rubbish to the next town if possible.

“One of the most beautiful campsites in Namibia !! Worth a few days stay.” - Mietsie Visser, 2023/06/26
“Ondongo has had a revamp in 2017 and it shows! Stunning clean and neat...what a gem! Definitely a must stopover. The rock pool is the main attraction with water so clear it feels like you looking through glass.” - Mitzi Knipe, 2023/02/02
“Recent reports from campers indicate that since the community took over the camp from Ms Greef, the previous manager, things has gone very wrong at Ongongo. Facilities are no longer being maintained and there are no control over number of campers. A pity, as this used to be a very popular camp site in Sesfontein.” - JP Groenewald, 2011/08/04
“We enjoyed Ongongo Hot Springs very much. It was Namibian school holidays and we could see what role the place has in the Namibian culture. Traditional holiday place for lots of friendly locals. Rustic facilities, but ample. Read a Trip Report to Ongongo Hot Springs in Namibia.” - Pieter Theron, 2009/05/06
