Makuri Campsite in the Nyae Nyae Conservancy near Tsumkwe is a communal camp which is shaded, under a beautiful big baobab, with a fireplace. There are no ablution blocks. Campers need to bring their own drinking water.
There is a Bushman village nearby. Each morning they offer to take you, for a small fee per person, on different walks. For example they take you on a simulated hunt. Another outing is to take you on a plant foraging expedition. Sometimes they have younger family members who explain in Afrikaans, otherwise they use hand gestures.
There is a 'Living Village' at Xa-hoba, 20km north from Tsumkwe where you can see traditional dances and learn more of the village culture. All the proceeds go to the local people.
