The Maputo Railway Station (Caminho de Ferro de Mocambique) was designed by engineer Alfredo Augusto Lisboa de Lima and completed in 1910, while the outer façade was designed by architect José Cristiano de Paula Ferreira da Costa and completed in 1916. The impressive building is a fine example of Portuguese colonial architecture and includes a wide Roman Arch over the main entrance topped by a copper dome, wrought-iron latticework and marble pillars and arches. The station is still operational today. (Feb-18)
