Zomba was the capital of Malawi until 1975 and remained the seat of parliament until 1994. Today it still houses a few important institutions like the National Archives and the University of Malawi. Zomba is a big but peaceful town with a bustling and modern town centre. There is a tourism office in Zomba where the Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife and culture provides information about Zomba, maps, books, leaflets and POI.
