Chinhoyi is situated within the Mashonaland West province in Zimbabwe. The city is home to the famous Chinhoyi caves, a major attraction in Zimbabwe. Formerly called Sinoia when it was established in 1906. The city is situated along a major road from Harare to Kariba and Chirundu with good road networks, which makes it more accessible. Agriculture activities with farming of maize and tobacco are the economic backbone in this area. The city now have one of the Science university in Zimbabwe, The Chinhoyi University of Technology which was opened in 2001, established on the premises of the previous Chinhoyi Technical Teacher's College.
