Border post between Zambia and Tanzania. On the Tanzania side it is called the Tunduma border. Border operates times are from 08h00-20h00 (GMT+2) Time Guideline. All inbound visitors to Zambia need a passport valid for six months and a temporary visitor's visa issued at the border valid for three months after which a 6 months visa is issued thereafter. South African citizens do not require visas for a stay of up to 30 days. This border is a one stop border. Visitors travelling with vehicles will need to pay for temporary road permit fees, road user charge, third party Insurance, Carbon pollution tax and the driver should have White and Red Reflective Tape. All payments are made by cheques or cash (accepted if the charges are less than ZMK5000). For more information visitors can contact the Customs Offices at Nakonde Border Post. (May-2019).

Chavuma Mission Hospital close by. Road access fee paid on entry in USD only & valid for a year. Council levy USD20 per car (paid on entry & exit) in Zambia. White and Red Reflective Tape and Warning Triangles for every vehicle. All vehicle must also carry Warning Triangles and a fire extinguisher. Please note that Nakonde & Tunduma operates on different time zones. Tanzania is an hour behind Zambia. Tunduma times are 07h00-19h00. (May-16).
