Situated in the Central province of Botswana, Orapa town is considered as the diamond capital of Botswana. The town is small, fenced and protected 24 hours, best described as a 'closed town' as it is the driving force of Botswana economy as a whole through the diamond mining. Orapa town serves as the administrative centre for Orapa district covering Letlhakane and Damtshaa Mines. As a 'closed town' one would therefore need a permit from the Debswana mining company to live, work, or even visit there. This makes it not accessible to visitors unless on very close inspection of the visitors prior to arrival.
