Kasane has Engen and Shell garages. Always have some spare petrol in case of emergencies, as the garages do run out occasionally.
Reportedly, a t the Kasane Shell fuel stop, it's touch and go if the credit card machine is working or not, and they are often without diesel as all the trucks fill up there before entering Zimbabwe and Zambia (much cheaper in Botswana). (March 2015).

Hospital contact added is for Kasane Primary hospital. There are two private clinics. Phone Chobe River Clinic (+267 625 1555) to get in touch with doctor Marios. (Mar-2019).

For car repairs there is the Motovac situated at the Kasane Business Centre open from 08h00 to 17h00 during working days and from 08h00-13h00 on Sat and Sun. (Mar-2019).

If travelling from Kasane to Maun, via Ihaha, Savute, Khwai and Xakanaxa, a LWB 3.2 diesel Pajero, without trailer but with roof rack loaded to capacity and with 2/3 passengers, the fuel consumption is averaging 7,5km per litre (using about 140 litres of fuel). Always carry spare fuel with you - camp operators may bring you fuel if you are stuck, but at about 5 times the price it would cost you in a town.

Road conditions between Kasane and Francistown is good, road works are nearly completed. From Francistown to Nata all is well and then between Nata and Kasane there is a mix of lovely new roads, short sections of detours where they are working on the new road and north of Pandamatenga the occasional place with some minor potholes. Just keep your eyes on the the road and there will be no issues. (Jul-12).

The Old House Restaurant is popular with locals and offers good meals.

Nearby Border Control point. Immigration & Customs Services in town.
The Kasane Spar is well-stocked with fresh meat and produce, and there’s a Tops liquor store to top up your liquid refreshments. You’ll also find a Choppies, a large Shoprite supermarket, as well as a Shell and Puma fuel station.

 Travel Tip!

Itenge laundry offers an affordable, same day service if you drop off your washing when they open. The Unesco World Heritage site of Victoria Falls, on the border between Zimbabwe and Zambia, is only 85km from Kasane and easily visited as a day trip. If you want to avoid expensive border fees and time-consuming procedures to get your private vehicle into Zimbabwe, book a transfer with Shearwater Adventures, based in Victoria Falls. They will collect you from your hotel in Kasane, drop you at the falls, and collect you when you're done. If you have spare time before your transfer back to Kasane, the small village of Victoria Falls is easily explored on foot.

If staying at Kasane, you have the best of both worlds: a nature paradise during the day and the comfort of Kasane in the evening. Be sure to buy plenty of firewood before leaving Kasane if heading to Moremi or Savuti, as you are not always allowed to pick up firewood in the reserves.
