Travelling Information

ROAD INFO:
If you are heading from Mababe South Gate north towards Savuti campsite, as per the Tracks4Africa Maps, if you take the track on the west, it is very very, sandy, if you take the track on the east, it is very bumpy and muddy if raining. So if it is raining, keep left, if it is dry, keep right.

The guards at the gate are also very helpful - but ignore them if they tell you it will only take an hour or two to reach Savuti. If you are driving from Xakanaxa to Savuti in one day, leave Xakanaxa very, very early, it is a long drive.

Travellers have reported that the West, sandy road had been a nightmare - there was deep sand and many delivery trucks coming from ahead, expecting you to give way, you cannot see far ahead so be very careful. (January 2015).
