The border post serves as the border crossing for rail and road traffic between Botswana and South Africa.
A valid passport book and vehicle papers must always accompany your car.
Any goods acquired outside the country must be declared at the border post. For any clarifications on this matter please contact the Customs office.
Cards payment accepted but always have enough cash in case the machines are down. Ramatlabama is the southern end of Botswana's A1 highway, it is a single paved carriageway.

Road safety fee is valid for a full calendar year, 3rd party Insurance is for small vehicles (Buses & mini buses pay more). TIP form to be completed at the border for all vehicles registered in Namibia Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Malawi, Zambia, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Namibia and Mozambique. (Jun-2020).
TRAVELING WITH A MINOR:
Advice on travelling with minors, you will need a valid passport, valid visa if required, an Unabridged Birth Certificate with both parents’ names on and an affidavit from the other parent or both should the minor be travelling with one parent or with other family. The affidavit should not be older than 3 months.
