Kopong means 'Place of the Hole', referring to an area where the sandstone rock slopes down to a hole, which has been filled with sand. Here visitors could see many rock carvings, with themes such as animal tracks. But it has been reported to us lately that these holes are now unimpressive, and herdsmen are using them to water their goats. The rock engravings can no longer be found, they are basically invisible now. It my not be worth your while to take this dusty track to Kopong. Literature is available on this point of interest in Alec Campbell and Mike Mains' book titled 'Guide to Greater Gaborone'.
