Stutterheim is situated in Eastern Cape province border region within the Amahlathi Local Municipality. The town is a centre of large scale forestry production with large pine, gum and wattle plantations well established on the slopes of the Kologha Mountains. The forest is the second largest in the whole of South Africa after the Tsitsikamma forest. This makes the area picturesque. Animal husbandry is also the towns primary industry and a major source of income where sheep breeding for wool, beef and dairy products are sold. In recent years tourism is growing due to various attractions in and around town this have seen major revamps in the road infrastructure networks and local government. A very neat with standard supermarkets where the travellers can stock up their food stuff and medical supplies before travelling to the coast.
