The Eastern Cape is known for its diverse landscape from beautiful beaches in East London and Plettenberg Bay, the forests of Tsitsikamma to the arid Great Karoo. This is a tourist's paradise. Their capital is Port Elizabeth, the fifth largest city in South Africa. People here are warm, generous and hospitable resulting in PE being nicknamed 'The Friendly City' The Eastern Cape has some of the best weather with more sunshine days than any other coastal town in the country. In contrast they also have SA's only ski resort, Tiffindell, situated in the Drakensberg on the slopes of the Ben Mcdhui, the highest peak in the Cape. Africa's largest Arts Festival is held in Grahamstown with both local and imported talent on show for 11 fun filled days. The predominant languages of the region include Xhosa, English and Afrikaans.
