Joubert's Pass in the Eastern Cape is the third highest pass in South Africa, and was built by farmers (of which five were Joubert) to allow them to reach their farms over the Witteberge or 'white mountain', that does its name justice during winter. You will travel through beautiful farmlands before going up through to Lammergeier Nature Reserve, and eventually descends into Lady Gray. The water reservoir east of town is now one of the main points of the nature reserve, and the dam makes for a great picnic spot. The beautiful Dutch Reformed sandstone church in town is a National Monument, where during Easter passion plays can be seen.
