The scenic Royal Natal National Park covers 8094 ha of South Africa's Drakensberg mountain range. The park was first established in 1916 and hosts a wide variety of flora as well as small animals and freshwater fish species. The famous 'amphitheatre' massif rises above the Thukela river, creating the world's second highest waterfall known simply as the Thukela falls.

The park is well known for best mountain scenery. There are two sections within the park, the Mahai and Rugged Glen where there is the famous world renowned Amphitheatre, horse trails and short walks hiking trails are evident here. There is also the Thendele where the main accommodation option like lodges and cottages are situated.

Accommodation within the park is either in self-contained chalets or campsites. For more information visitors can make a reservation through the KZN wildlife offices for the park or through central KZN wildlife reservation offices.
