This border post between South Africa and Mozambique is the ideal crossing for overlanders who want to combine a trip to Kruger NP in SA with Gonarezhou NP in Zimbabwe. Travellers would exit SA at the Pafuri border post in the far north of the park and drive 61km through a remote part of Mozambique (crossing both the Limpopo and Nuanetsi Rivers) to reach Chiqualaquala border post. This route varies between thick sand and good gravel and could be problematic during the wet season. It is possible to traverse this route between Kruger and Gonarezhou within one day (border crossings included).
