Located on the bend of the Letaba River is the unspoiled Letaba Rest Camp, halfway between the southern and northern boundaries of the Kruger National Park. The meaning of the name Letaba is 'river of sand', making the sandy riverbed excellent for game viewing especially the thriving elephant population. The nights orchestra consist of owls, nightjars, frogs, fruit bats, crickets and cicadas, but when the lion roars, all are silent. The campsites have power points and hot water ablution facilities, and a kitchen area. Letaba offers many different types of accommodation like: 60 Campsites, 5 Huts, 10 Safari Tents - on stilts, 86 Bungalows - with air-conditioning, 10 Guest Cottages, 2 Guest Houses - Melville and Fish Eagle for the more luxury stay. There are communal ablution and kitchen facilities for the Campsites, Huts and Safari Tents. And the Bungalows, Guest Cottages, Guest Houses has its own ablution and kitchen facilities. The gate times for Kruger National Park is 05:30-18:30(Nov-Feb), 05:30-18:00(Mar, Oct), 06:00-17:30(May-Jul), 06:00-18:00(Apr/Aug-Sept).
