Tzaneen is the second largest city in the Limpopo province, and is a subtropical city. The name comes from the word 'tsaneng' which means 'come together'. The area around Tzaneen is forested with timber plantations of blue gum and pine, and has more than 40 sawmills. The area also grows avocados, nuts, citrus fruits, mangoes, bananas and litchis, coffee, tea and cotton.
