Wadi Halfa is located in the Sudanese state of Northern Sudan, situated on the shores of the Sudanese section of Lake Nasser, called Lake Nubia. The town was flooded during the completion of the Aswan dam, and has been the focus of many archaeological works in order to recover and save artefacts. It is also the final stop of the rail line from Khartoum, and from here goods are transferred to ferries going down the Nile. (Updated Jul-16)
