Fort Stonetown is the largest town in archipelago, located in the middle of the west coast of Unguja, the main island. The town was named for the coral stone old building of the former bussling fishing village. The town is the oldest and cultural heart of Zanzibar and the buildings show a rich history of over 200 years back. The town was declared a world heritage site by UNESCO. (Updated Dec-12).
