A 20 hectare reserve is situated in Darling with so many flowers found here in the Tienie Versveld Reserve is largely due to a mix of different veld types. This reserve is open for walks throughout the year, although it is most popular in Spring when the flowers are more dazzling.
The reserve was originally part of a farm donated to the National Botanical Society of South Africa by Marthinus Versveld. Marthinus’ sister, Muriel was one of the founder members of the Darling Wildflower Association.
Entrance to the reserve is free. You can wonder along little pathways within the reserve. There are no trees, so don't forget hats and sunscreen.
A flower tour is held every year in September. For more information about the reserve contact the Darling Tourism Information. (Nov-15).
