Cathedral Peak is a popular hiking destination in KZN situated on the Northern part of the Drakensberg mountain range. This town also forms part of the Hlambanja Wilderness Area reachable via the villages of Winterton and Bergville. This is an ideal mountain retreat destination. The name was derived from the free standing mountain in the Drakensberg called Cathedralpiek in Afrikaans. the local Amangwane people also named the mountain Mponjwana which means "Lion Horn." The main accommodation option in the town is the Cathedral peak hotel.

There is a shop that sells curios and limited supplies and a Restaurant, Bar and special Smoking Lounge with DSTV. Petrol may be purchased from the Cathedral Peak Hotel.
The nearest towns which have a full range of services like hospital, Police Station, banks and fuel station are Bergville and Winterton which are both 50 kms away. (Jun-15)
