Cathedral Peak is a popular hiking destination in KZN situated on the Northern part of the Drakensberg mountain range. This town also forms part of the Hlambanja Wilderness Area reachable via the villages of Winterton and Bergville. This is an ideal mountain retreat destination. The name was derived from the free standing mountain in the Drakensberg called Cathedralpiek in Afrikaans. the local Amangwane people also named the mountain Mponjwana which means "Lion Horn." The main accommodation option in the town is the Cathedral peak hotel.
