Hwange National Park is the largest park in Zimbabwe stretching over 14 000 square kilometres. The park has a large concentration of different wildlife. These includes lions, cheetahs, zebra, elephant, giraffes, antelopes, buffalo, hyenas, jackals and wild dog.

Accommodation is also available in the reserve with lodges and campsites. The lodges are fully equipped with en suite bathrooms and fully equipped kitchen for self catering, there are chalets with cooking available on wood or charcoal braais (barbeques), the ablution blocks are communal but there are electric refrigerators. Cottages also have communal cooking facilities, with an electric stove, the dining area is communal but there are no cutlery and crockery.

Camping is also allowed where the visitors can pitch their tent or bring a caravan. Clean communal ablution blocks and tents are available and also clean tap water.

Other facilities available includes conference facilities, museum, restaurant, shop, fuel station but the visitors need to be self sufficient as this is not always reliable.

The Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Authority does the bookings for all Zimbabwe's beautiful National Parks. They are very friendly and efficient and communicating effectively via email.

Reportedly this park has improved greatly over the last 3 years. All facilities are being renovated, and there were new concessions everywhere. Part of the parks income now goes directly to the maintenance and infrastructure of the park.

There is a clinic at the Main camp in the park.
