Bazaruto Archipelago broke away from the mainland thousands of years ago. The natural beauty of a string of five islands and their beautiful coral reefs are protected as a National Park. Bazaruto is the largest of the group of islands, the others being Santa Carolina, Benguerra, Magaruque, and Bangue. An entrance fee is payable if you visit any of the islands within the park. The islands can be reached by dhow (local sailboat) or speedboat from Vilanculos. Bazaruto Archipelago is a true paradise that offers amazing snorkelling in crystal clear water. The boat trips are expensive but worth it.
