Description
[ correction ]
According to Frolich and de Beer (in: A West Coast Odyssey, 2008,p 69-70) it is the first iron bridge in Cape Colony. It was downloaded (1850) from a ship, directed to Australia, needing repairs in Table Bay. It was not possible to reload it and the ship left without it. It was erected over Berg river and officially opened in 1863.
