A small town on the shores of Lake Kariba, Sinazongwe was established in the 50s as the administrative centre for the district. Today, Sinazongwe’s industry is based on kapenta fishing on Lake Kariba.Traveller Description
The town centre is situated higher up the slopes, leaving the lodges and camps on the lake’s edge in relative peace and quiet. Compared to the busy and touristy town of Siavonga, Sinazongwe is small and undeveloped. The road leading to the town is mostly tarred, although not in the best condition.

For those who want to try their hand at fishing, most lodges provide charter boats. Zamarula Fishing Camp specialises in this activity.
SHOPS & SERVICES:
Sinazongwe is a small town and not well-developed as far as Western comforts are concerned. The last fuel stop and grocery store is at Choma, on the T1 highway. If you plan to travel around while at Sinazongwe, you should fill up on fuel and supplies here.
The poor road conditions and lack of infrastructure makes Sinazongwe a less desirable destination for those who like their comforts. But if you’re looking for an unspoilt, non-commercial destination, Sinazongwe is where you want to be!
