Livingstone's Camp previously known as the Nsheshe Rest camp, located in the Caprivi Region.
Mamili (Nkasa Lupala)National Park beautifully mirrors Botswana's Okavango style wetland wilderness with an edge that is uniquely Namibia. In a vast arid country, Mamili holds the distinction of being the largest wetland with conservation status in Namibia.
The newly built Livingstone's Camp borders the national park and features 5 exclusive campsites providing visitors with their own private bathrooms, hot showers and unrivalled camping facilities.
The campsites all have incredible views of the Linyanti wetland with abundant birdlife and wildlife. Guests have a range of activities to experience, including Mokoro safaris through the pristine waterways, as well as guided walking and game drive safaris.
Anyone with passionate enthusiasm for the wildlife of Africa and is equipped with a self-contained 4X4 vehicle will consider camping at Livingstone's Camp, the ultimate escape.
Dr. David Livingstone had spent several months in 1856, in the Mamili area during which he befriended the Makololo Chief Sebituane. In his memoirs, Livingstone described the areas as the 'garden of Eden'.
Guests can visit the nearby museum, built as a tribute to an ill-fated missionary party of two families, Holloway Helmore and Roger Price, who were sent in 1859 to establish a mission station in Linyanti after receiving instruction from Livingstone before he set off in search of the source of the Zambezi.
The understanding was that Livingstone would return and meet up with the missionaries after his travels on the Zambezi. Tragically, most of the families met their fate there before Livingstone arrived. The full account of this story will be recounted on your visit to the museum. (Apr-15).
