Kawaza Cultural Village is a rural Zambian village located just outside the South Luangwa National Park. The village invites outsiders and offers them the opportunity to experience the true Kunda Culture.
Guest are allowed to visit the village for a few hours, overnight and even for a few days.
Note that if you go in and just look around, you have to sign a visitors book and pay USD30. You cannot take photos.
Visitors are met by the village guide and manager who will introduce guest to some of the local villagers.
Accommodation can be offered in the traditional mud huts, with no windows, electricity or furniture. There are long-drop toilets in an enclosed cubicle and a shower in a reed enclosure. Guests are welcome to partake in everyday village activities such as brewing local beer, grinding the maize, drawing water at the well and picking maize in the fields.
All traditional accommodation, food, pit latrines, washing area, activities such as dancing, visit to health clinic, traditional healer, etc. is very popular with foreigners, and costs about USD70pppn incl meals.
