Maabwe Bay (Rocky Bay) is a brand new camp nestled on the banks of Lake Kariba, near the Sebungwe River mouth. Both the campsite and chalets looks out over the lake, from where one can watch the resident pair of fish eagle raise their young. In season one stands a chance of spotting the Narina Trogon that returns every year, while barbets and greenbuls enjoy the bird baths spread throughout the gardens. Fishermen can try their hand at catching a tiger fish, while the rest can just laze in the shade under the indigenous trees. Activities include birding and fishing, or one can simply enjoy a relaxing sundowner boat cruise on the lake.

Camping facilities include electrical points, shady campsites under indigenous trees, sparkling clean ablutions with hot water showers, flush toilets and a sink for washing the dishes, as well as a lapa and several braai areas.

Chalets are also available.

“Excellent, highly recommended. The campsites are serviced with electrical points (RSA round socket), camp light, water point, outdoor shower, braai area, shaded structure and the cleanest bathrooms with a great hot water shower. The staff are excellent, willing and very friendly. The owners, Richard and Margot very accommodating and are well seasoned campers themselves, they are very proud of what they've created and they will go out of their way to make your stay enjoyable. The birdlife is great and the proximity to the water for fishing is very convenient. We had a great time and hope to be back soon, Alan, Nic & Tom Rayner” - Alan Rayner, 2022/09/16

“If you are in the area and need an overnight stop, this is a great place. Or stay for longer as it is so quiet and peaceful. The site is spotlessly clean and very well run. Great birdlife and of course hippos and crocs. Survivor, the resident hippo, is cute and the resident fish eagles will etch their call on your brain forever,” - alistair rausch, 2022/08/26
