Description [ correction ]

This marble columned structure is the tomb of the first president and founder of the nation, Dr Banda. The four main pillars, Unity, Loyalty, Discipline, and Obedience represent the cornerstones on which the country was built and the smaller surrounding pillars represent the states of Malawi. This edifice was completed in 2006. Guided tours are available.
