There are 2 trails here, varying in length from 7 to 60km, and would take approximately 2 to 6 hours to complete. Low range gears are required to complete this trail, the vehicle needs good ground clearance, trail guides are available, but not obligatory, GPS waypoints are available, cellphone coverage is weak or intermittent, camping facilities and covered accommodation is available, food/catering or a shop with supplies is available, there is shade, swimming and drinking water available along the trails. It is ideally located as a base to visit any of the other attractions of the area, especially the Augrabies Falls - one of the six largest waterfalls in the world and one of the great spectacles of Africa. Khamkirri is an authentic semi-desert off-road trail that takes in some of the most awesome scenery the area has to offer. The trail traverses steep red dunes, great for perfecting your sand -driving skills, and there are a number of tricky descents and ascents encountered on the way to high, rocky outcrops. Khamkirri is blessed with an abundance of wildlife and the area is also a bird-watcher's dream. Camelthorn River Camp on the banks of the Orange River has equipped tents, or caravan and camping facilities. Homestead and Hunter's Cottage in the game area. The Bushcamp is ideal for tents and rooftop tents. Augrabies Falls 4x4 camp with A-frame log cabins and communal ablution, kitchen and braai area. Activities available includes game drives, horse trails, angling, bird watching, hiking and abseiling. Day tours, vineyard tours, Kalahari tours or river rafting can be arranged.
