This settlement in the Richtersveld, Northern Cape province of South Africa, was named after the Reverend Peter Eksteen who served the first church congregation in 1945. The population consists of a group of people originally known as 'Bo-Sluis Basters' who settled there in the 1940's as a result of the apartheid policies of the time. Today the community thrives on stock farming and working on the various diamond mines in the Richtersveld. Things to do: Take a Donkey cart Ride from Eksteenfontein to the Rooiberg Conservancy Area. Local field guides take visitors to see a wide variety of some very rare, succulents.
