Lighthouse Ras Kanzi Lighthouses

Ras Kanzi lighthouses are situated at the Lighthouse Beach Resort in Tanzania in Kidagaa village within the Pwani region of Tanzania. The station was established in 1897. There are 2 lighthouses at Ras Kanzi. The Ras Kanzi lighthouse 2 is still active and has a focal point of 28m, with white flash every 10sec. The lighthouse stands approx 12 m (40 ft) round hourglass-shaped white fiberglass tower, coloured with red and white horizontal bands. There is another ruined historical lighthouse, Ras Kanzi lighthouse 1 now inactive, used to originally stands at 12m gray square stucco-covered stone tower, attached to a keeper's house, situated on the southern entrance to the Zanzibar Channel. Site open, tower open but it is now dangerous. The lighthouse is operated by the Tanzania Ports Authority and can be contacted for more information or visitors can contact the Lighthouse Beach Resort. .
