Tankwa Padstal, where Community is everything!
We are in the Karoo on the R355 about 70km from Ceres, on the way to Calvinia and the Tankwa Karoo National Park, but for a lot of people, it is somewhere between nothing and nowhere. until you have found this wonderful treasure in the Tankwa Karoo. The R355 is the longest dirt road in SA, en route to Calvinia, Tankwa Karoo National Park, and Sutherland. Tankwa Padstal has a fully operational shop, kitchen/restaurant/deli, and bar, that serves freshly prepared, homemade meals every day of the week (except Wednesdays when we have stock take - visit our Facebook Page to be updated on holidays). We serve meat lovers and vegetarians. We have the most amazing homemade ginger beer, roosterkoek, and "moerkoffie", made with love!
The Tankwa Padstal is a farm stall/diner/convenience store that sells anything from sweets, chips, and cold drinks to matches, bug spray, airtime, crafts, clothes you name it. from banjo strings to tire repair units, old school / out of fashion items and lots more! We also have homemade preserves and all things yummie.
For the children we have a play-park we are also animal-friendly. The bar is very creatively decorated – a pleasure for the eye. Once you have been here it will be as close as your heart and thoughts. We have a heart for the community of the Tankwa Karoo. That is why one of our very special days of the year is the Tankwa Community Day.
So come visit us and find out for yourself that the Tankwa Karoo is not a place, but a feeling.
