The lighthouse at the most southern tip of Africa was built in 1848 and is the second oldest working lighthouse in South Africa. The Atlantic and Indian Oceans meet at Cape Agulhas and the lighthouse was built to help prevent the many shipwrecks that occurred in these dangerous waters. Visitors are allowed to climb the stairs to the top. They are very narrow and steep, but the breath taking views are worth it.
