On the Zimbabwean side there is Sango border post. Chiqualaquala is within the Gaza province, is a quiet border post with about six vehicles crossing per day. There is a major railway line crossing the border into Zimbabwe. Getting through it takes some patience as the officials normally have to be fetched from the village to do the necessary and the same information has to be entered on a seemingly endless number of forms and books. Visas are issued to all visitors except for South Africa, Malawi, Mauritius.

Mozambican side, the Chicualacuala is a sprawling town. Have villas & hotels for accommodation, a referral hospital, 'make-shift' fuel stations.
During May-2014 a traveller reported to have found friendly, good service at this border post office. If entering Mozambique, you have to buy car insurance at the border, or you can buy it in South Africa at Outdoor Warehouse. (2014).
This border post between Mozambique and Zimbabwe is the ideal crossing for overlanders who want to combine a trip to Kruger NP in SA with Gonarezhou NP in Zimbabwe. Travellers would exit SA at the Pafuri border post in the far north of the park and drive 61km through a remote part of Mozambique (crossing both the Limpopo and Nuanetsi Rivers) to reach Chiqualaquala border post. This route varies between thick sand and good gravel and could be problematic during the wet season. It is possible to traverse this route between Kruger and Gonarezhou within one day (border crossings included).
