Nakonde is the capital city of the district of Nakonde within the Muchinga province. Situated at the border with Tanzania, still retains a rural background with huts even seen in the town centre but one of the busiest town in Zambia because of its close location to the borders. Small goods selling and buying are the main employment for the community.

There is not much facilities in this town, most facilities like fuel station and shopping centre are found in the nearby town of Tunduma. (Unconfirmed - 2019)
