Gwanda is located in Matebeleland South province, one of the fast growing town on the road to South Africa from Bulawayo. The town have grown extensively with one of the best polytechnic college located in the town. The name Gwanda is derived from the nearest hill called Jahunda and situated between Bulawayo and Beitbridge. The economy of the town is mainly through cattle ranching.
